1971 Jeep CJ

Description

For sale is a 1971 Jeep CJ5 with original 225 V6. If the internet gods allow it, there will be a video of me starting it below.
It drives, but consider this is a project. It's been sitting for 4 years as a monument to the many projects I have conceived of, but never finished or started. I have only "driven" it around my driveway to access other unfinished projects that I will be selling on ebay 4 years from now.
I have not driven it on the street since 2017 so I cannot vouch for its reliability or safety. That said, it starts and moves under its own power, so it is a good starting point for a project that can sit in your very own driveway for the next 4 years or until your significant other makes you sell it because s/he doesn't understand its full potential like you do.
The engine seems strong. There are no leaks or burning oil. The odometer shows 576 miles - I do not believe this is accurate. Your guess is as good as mine how many times it has rolled over. Coolant is nice and clean. No gunk in the radiator.
The carb will need further adjusting. I did just enough tinkering to get it started, but I wouldn't trust it not to stall out while driving without further tuning.
Body and floors are solid. There is very little surface rust. Tires still have a lot of tread left. Folding windshield and tailgate both work. Has front tow bar and rear hitch.
The transmission will slip out of gear if you do not hold it in position with the shifter. This could be as simple as a linkage adjustment, or as complicated as a complete transmission rebuild. Why not buy it and find out? That would be a fun adventure!
I have the title and it is currently registered CA non-op.
Local pick up only. I will not ship.
Bring a trailer or you can flat tow it. I
do not
recommend trying to drive it home.
