Tungsten electrode, red (thoriated) 98% of tungsten and 2% of thorium. These are currently the most commonly used TIG welding electrodes due to their durability and ease of use. The presence of a trace improves arc ignition and allows for higher current capacity. Red electrodes, which bring less tungsten into the lake, cause much less pollution of the weld seam.
